I was told, by someone who knows more about plants than I do, that this particular fern would not survive my apartment for longer than a month. That was eleven months ago.
Dead Houseplants
I do not think I have gotten better at keeping plants alive. I think I have simply refused, out of pure stubbornness, to let this one particular plant confirm what I was told about myself.
Healthy Houseplants
It is not a healthy relationship to a houseplant. I water it anyway, on schedule, mostly out of spite, and it has not once thanked me for it, which I have decided to respect.
