Two Poems Written at the Edge of a Field

Short pieces composed standing still, on purpose.

Two poems, each written in the time it takes to stand at the edge of a field and actually look at it, rather than simply pass by.

The first poem took eleven minutes to write, standing at a fence line at dusk. The second took four, the following morning, in different light.

Both are attempts at the same discipline: to write only what could actually be observed in that specific stretch of time, without reaching for metaphor before the field itself had been properly looked at.

They are small poems on purpose. Not every act of attention needs to become something larger than the attention itself.
