We publish essays and creative nonfiction, poetry, fiction, and translations — work that's lucid, disciplined, and genuinely alive, not trend performance or aesthetic posturing. We're less interested in your back catalog than the strength of the work itself.

GENERAL SUBMISSION INFORMATION

Mere Thelema welcomes submissions from authors, artists, scholars, educators, and others with special interests in writing and reporting on topics and events that matter in their personal and professional lives through the lens of Thelema. However, we primarily focus on Applied Thelema, but our articles also reach into broader fields such as technology, history, economics, and politics. For full submission guidelines and image specs, check our full Submission Guidelines or pitch your idea to us, and we’ll start that discussion with you. 

Mere Thelema accepts submissions of full-text articles on a rolling basis for online publishing. Article length may vary but generally ranges from 600 to 6,000 words. We accept submissions through our contributor’s portal. If you are not an existing Mere Thelema author, please pitch your article first, and we’ll get you set up with an author’s account.

COMMON QUESTIONS

1. How long should the article be? 
   The average length of an article (essay format) that Mere Thelema usually publishes ranges from 1,500 to 4,000 words. However, some subjects and content call for more text, some call for less, and some are serialized (or we may ask to serialize). We fully support the writer's vision for word count if the length needs to be extended or shortened.

2. How many images should I submit? 
   Between 2 and 20. For a 1500-word article, 2 to 4 images fit an article without clutter.  Your featured image should be 2400px wide. An artist’s gallery will hold as many as you want, but it starts to be cluttered after 15-20 images on a page.
